Triggers: A Redesigned Way to Build and Manage Alerts

What changed

Every Triggers screen has been rebuilt - the lobby where you browse your triggers, the editor where you create and edit them, the recipients list, and the alerts panel. Creating or editing a trigger now opens in a full-screen editor, every trigger type shares the same condition layout, and devices are selected with the same device tree you already use in TimeView.

Why it matters

Triggers are how you find out that a device is running above its limit, outside its hours, or offline. The old screens were cramped, and some parts behaved differently depending on the trigger type. The new editor gives every trigger type the same layout and the same device tree as TimeView, and the lobby shows who owns each trigger at a glance.

The Triggers Lobby

  • Filters at the top. Filters now sit at the top of the list, so you can narrow down your triggers before you scroll.
  • Who created it, and when. Each trigger card shows who created the trigger and when.
  • Schedule names on the card. Triggers that use a specific schedule now show that schedule's name on the card.
  • Faster search. Searching for a trigger is faster.

Creating and Editing a Trigger

  • Full-screen editor. Creating or editing a trigger now opens in a full-screen editor, with more room for conditions, devices and recipients.
  • One condition layout for every type. Each trigger type (Devices, Site, Meters, Bridges and Maintenance) has a rebuilt condition builder. Every type now uses the same layout for Above / Below / Between, the threshold value (with its unit inside the field), For more than and During.
  • The TimeView device tree. The device picker now uses the same device tree as TimeView, so selecting devices works the way you already know. Meters now appear in the tree as expected.
  • A default event label. A new trigger starts with a default event label, so you no longer have to fill it in before saving.
  • Clear save options. Saving a trigger now makes it clear whether you are saving a draft or about to activate it.
  • Only the options that apply. Switching between trigger types while creating a trigger no longer shows options that don't apply to the new type.

Recipients

  • Start typing right away. When you add a recipient, the search box is focused right away so you can start typing.
  • Pending invites are marked. Users with a pending invite are marked in the recipients list.

Alerts and Notifications

  • Mark all as read on every tab. Mark all as read now works on every tab, including All.
  • The notifications filter works again. The Open status also no longer appears twice in the status filter.
  • No more full app reloads. Opening an alert or a trigger from the alerts panel, or switching the panel to full screen, no longer reloads the whole app.
  • No double sends. Acknowledge and Mark all are disabled while the request is processing, so a double-click can't send it twice.

Read-Only Users

Read-only users now see all trigger fields, including maintenance conditions, as read-only. Previously, some fields looked editable.

Tables: One Consistent Table Across PowerRadar

What changed

Lists across PowerRadar now share one table design. This includes the Home list, users and invites, reports, exports, bridges and loggers, events, utility tariffs, and partner pages.

Why it matters

Before this release, each list in PowerRadar had its own controls and its own quirks, so learning one didn't help with the next. Now the search box, filters and column settings work the same way on every list.

What's the Same in Every Table

  • Search, sort and column visibility sit in the same place in every table, and search supports more ways to match what you type.
  • Column widths are set consistently, so names and values are no longer cut off unpredictably.
  • Dates and times in lists now show in the correct time zone.
  • Loading, empty and error states look and behave the same everywhere.
  • Creating an export or a report now opens in a full-screen form.
  • Confirmation prompts on a row (for example, before deleting) now close with the Escape key.
  • Clearer error messages when inviting a user, or deleting an account or site, fails - so you know what went wrong.

Device Trees: The Same Tree Everywhere

What changed

The device tree from TimeView now appears in Manual Export, Dashboards, Benchmarking and Energy Flow. In TimeView itself, the tree now shows how many devices are selected inside each branch.

Why it matters

You no longer have to re-learn device selection on each screen. And in TimeView, you can see where your selected devices are without expanding every branch.

Where You'll See the New Tree

  • Manual Export uses the new tree, with more tree types to choose from.
  • Dashboards use the new tree when you pick devices or categories for a widget.
  • Benchmarking uses the new tree, and you can now benchmark a whole site alongside individual devices.
  • Energy Flow now opens on your current site directly, instead of asking you to pick a site from a separate panel.

Selection Counts in TimeView

  • Counts on every branch. Each branch of the tree shows how many devices are selected inside it, with a bold label - even when the branch is collapsed.
  • Counts on sensor type groupings. Sensor type groupings also show a count, on every tree that offers them.
  • Empty zones and panels stay visible. Zone and panel trees stay visible even when they have no devices under them.

Improvements and Fixes

Smaller Improvements

  • Tooltips are back across the app. Some detailed tooltips were showing up empty or not at all. They now show their full content.
  • Signing in from a link takes you where the link points. After signing in, you now land on the page the link pointed to, including any filters in it.

Bug Fixes

Fixes for issues you reported

  • "Total power" triggers now add up all selected devices. A trigger set on the Total Power of several devices was checking each device on its own instead of their combined power, so it could miss an alert.
  • Removed users no longer get trigger alerts. When a user is removed from an account, they are now also removed as a recipient from that account's triggers.
  • Auto Export no longer adds an extra empty row. Scheduled exports with zero padding turned on were adding a row of zeros on every run.

Triggers and alerts

  • Device names update after editing. The device-name tooltip now updates after you edit a trigger's device list.
  • Triggers on sites with uninstalled sensors can be edited. An existing device trigger can now be opened for editing even after all of the site's sensors were uninstalled.
  • Units are no longer cut off with "Between". Units now show in full when a condition uses Between.
  • "Select timeframe" is no longer cut off.
  • No errors when switching trigger types. Switching between trigger types while creating a trigger no longer causes errors.
  • "Created by" updates correctly. The Created by field now updates correctly when a trigger's condition is edited.
  • Notes are kept when you save and close. A trigger note is now kept when you save and close the trigger, even if you hadn't saved the note separately.
  • The cursor stays put while you type a note. The cursor no longer jumps while you type a trigger note.
  • Triggers are checked before activation. Activating a trigger now checks that it's complete first.
  • The Back dialog closes after you choose. Choosing an option in the dialog that opens when you click Back now closes the dialog.
  • Closing bridge settings no longer refreshes the page.
  • Utility tariffs open from a trigger without errors. Opening a utility tariff from a trigger no longer sometimes shows "Oops! Something went wrong."

Other fixes

  • TimeView counter add-on at "Last 12 months". The counter add-on no longer disappears when you select the Last 12 months range.
  • Tree expand and collapse now works correctly for sensors and meters.
