Groups
Table of Contents
Note: This application is only available for Optimize sites.

Groups allows for a combination of devices forming a “virtual” device that has an operational meaning - such as a production line, something that belongs to a specific business/cost unit, etc. On the Panoramic Power software, you can create and edit device groups for any site, in order to later view the current/power/energy consumption by those groups.
After device groups have been formed, you should be able to view the total measured power and energy for each device group in the Time View application and in any other Energy application.
In addition a few of the predefined report modules offer breakdown by device groups.
Creating a Group Type
Click on the Manage type button under + New group in order to view and create custom Group Types

Creating a Group
Once types are established, click on + New group to get started.

Here you can start to define your device group.

The Type drop-down includes the following options.
- Production Line – used to group devices that are used for a single process or that form a single “virtual” machine.
- Single load type group – used to group devices of the same type. For example, when monitoring a panel of pumps and you want to subtract a device that is not part of the group (e.g., lightning of the pumps room).
- Identical devices array – used to group an array of devices of the same kind that act as one. For example, a compressors array; a few AC units of the same model that are used to cool a single space.
- Physical area – used to group devices that belong to a certain area such as a floor or a zone.
- Business Unit – used to follow consumption of different P&Ls or cost units.
- Other is grayed out because with the ability to create Custom Group Types, Other no longer needs to exist.
These categories are used for grouping in the tree view as well as for gaining insights through advanced reporting.
Adding/Subtracting Devices to a Group
To add devices to a device group, scroll to the list on the left, sorted by Device Type, and click and drag the Devices to the green Add column. To subtract devices, similar drag and drop action but place it in the red Subtract column.

The 6 dot icon on the left of the device allows you to order the devices within the group in any order you want. Hover over the device and click on the trash can icon to remove it from the group.
Devices can be assigned to multiple device groups.
Note: When creating groups, take into consideration the Electrical Hierarchy. So if you add a parent device and a child device, those are not counted twice. However, when you subtract a device, we will present the net consumption.
For example, say that the parent consumes 20kW (including child), and the child consumes 5kW. If so then the following are the results of a device group that contain them both:
Parent (+), Child (+) -> 20kW
Parent (+), Child (-) -> 15kW
Parent (-), Child (+) -> -15kW (we do show negative values, which are presented as zeros; however, if there are additional devices in the group, this is the calculation for the pair).
Parent (-), Child (-) -> -20kW (same as above regarding negative values)
To edit a group, click on its 3 dot option to the right and select Edit. You can also Delete the group from this section.
