Adding/Editing Tariff Plans Selecting a Tariff for Sites

Utility tariffs indicate the tariffs/rates of your utility companies (electric, gas, heat and water). You can use tariff plans to get calculations of utility costs based on the plans relevant for each of your sites.

You can define multiple tariff plans for each utility type on the account level, and later select the relevant tariffs for each one of the sites, based on their region and on their contract with the utility companies.

While an electricity tariff set is required (there is a default zero plan automatically set if no other tariff is set manually), other utility tariffs are optional and should be set only if those are monitored by the system.

To view a list of your account's utility tariff plans, go to your settings at the top right of the screen, and then open the Utility Tariffs section of the Account Settings screen.

Here you can:

  • View all tariff plans defined for your account, and learn which plan is being used by each site.
  • Search for tariff plans.
  • Edit existing tariff plans, or add a new one by clicking + Add Tariff at the bottom of the screen.
  • Set one of the electricity tariff plans as a default for new sites in the account by clicking the three dots to the right of the plan, and clicking Set as Default. The default tariff is marked with a ✔️sign.
  • Delete one of the plans by clicking the three dots to the right of the plan, and clicking Delete Tariff.

In the table columns:

  • Value shows the price and the currency for fixed plans, and time of use for Time of Use plans. These two plan types are described in the section below.
  • Countries shows a list of countries of all sites using the tariff plan.
  • Sites shows the names of the sites using this tariff.

Adding/Editing Tariff Plans

In order to create a Tariff plan, you must have your scope set to Account and your role type must be either Admin or Deployer User. Click on + Add Tariff at the bottom of the Utility Tariffs section of the Account Settings.

There are two types of tariff plans that you can add or edit for each utility type: Fixed, and Time of Use.

Fixed Tariff Plan

Here you can set the currency and rate for your tariff plan.

Time of Use Tariff Plan

You can set a Time of Use plan to be for a particular season – for example, Summer – and then set the months for when that season starts and ends. When you define seasons, they must cover all 12 months of the year.

For each defined season, you should set a tariff for both weekdays and weekends, as well as for the different time-of-use periods defined by your utility - Off-Peak, On-Peak, and Mid-Peak.
Tariffs of both weekdays and weekends should cover the entire 24 hours of the day.

Note: If you define the same Period TOU more than once for weekdays or for weekends; for example, Mid-Peak defined for 07:00-12:00 and again for 15:30-18:00, you should set the same rate for both periods.

Selecting a Tariff for Sites

After defining at least one tariff for the account, you can select the tariff plans for the different sites of your account. You can do that on the Utility Tariffs tab on the Site Settings as an Admin or Deployer User.

For each utility type, assign one of the tariff plans set on the account level. Generation tariff is only enabled if generation is enabled for the site (in the Site Properties tab) and can either be the same as the consumption tariff or can be set as a different tariff.
