Choosing What to Measure
A reference to every metric available in TimeView - what it shows, what chart type it uses, and what's required to see it.

How to Change the Metric
At the top of the tree panel, you'll see a button showing the active metrics - for example, ⚡ Power 〰 Flow when both a sensor metric and a meter metric are selected. Click it to open a two-column dropdown. The left column covers Panoramic sensors; the right column covers Meters (Optimize). You can select one from each independently.
The metric you choose applies to all selected devices.

Panoramic Sensor Metrics
Power
Shows: Active power draw in kilowatts (kW). Chart type: Line. Available for: All devices, circuits, and phases. Works at any level of the tree hierarchy. Package: Visualize and Optimize.
Power is the default metric when you open TimeView. Use it to see live consumption patterns, spot peaks, and compare how devices draw power over a period.
For PAN-42 devices on sites with solar or other generation, Power supports bidirectional rendering: consumption values appear above the zero line and generation (export) values appear below it, each in a distinct color. The legend shows both a Consumption and a Generation entry for that device.
Power add-ons (PAN-42 only): When Power is the active sensor metric, a Power add-ons subsection appears in the dropdown with three additional checkboxes. These can be enabled independently alongside Power:
| Add-on | Shows | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Apparent power (kVA) | Combined real + reactive power | Computed (√P²+Q²), not directly measured |
| Power factor (PF) | Ratio of real to apparent power | Dimensionless (0–1) |
| Reactive power (kVAr) | Non-working power in the circuit |
These add-ons are available on Optimize only.

Energy
Shows: Energy consumed in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Chart type: Bar. Available for: All devices, circuits, and phases. Package: Visualize and Optimize.
Energy totals the consumption over each time interval in your selected range. Use it when you want to understand how much was consumed - not how fast - over a day, week, or month.
Current
Shows: Current in amperes (A). Chart type: Line. Available for: Individual devices and phases only. Current cannot be calculated for parent nodes (categories, groups, or the site level). Package: Visualize and Optimize.
If you select a category or group and switch to Current, those nodes will show a No current data label in the tree. The same label appears on any node that doesn't support the active metric - for example, selecting Voltage will show No voltage data on devices without a PAN-42 sensor.
Cost
Shows: Energy cost in your site's currency. Chart type: Bar. Available for: All devices and circuits. Package: Visualize and Optimize.
Cost is calculated from the utility tariff configured at the site or account level. The currency symbol (€, $, £, and so on) matches the tariff definition. Both fixed tariffs (flat rate) and time-of-use tariffs (rate varies by time period) are supported.
Note: If no tariff is configured, the chart shows the message: "No tariff is defined for this site. Set a tariff in Site Settings to analyze energy costs." Contact your site administrator or partner to set up a tariff.

Carbon (Optimize only)
Shows: Estimated carbon emissions in kg CO₂. Chart type: Bar. Available for: All devices, circuits, and phases - at any tree level. Package: Optimize only.
Carbon emissions are calculated as: Energy (kWh) × Carbon Factor (kg CO₂ / kWh). The carbon factor is set in Site Settings by a site administrator.
Note: If no carbon factor is configured, the chart shows: "This site has no carbon factor defined. To view carbon emissions, enter a carbon factor in Site Settings." Site admins will see an Assign Carbon Factor button; other roles should contact their administrator.
Voltage
Shows: Voltage in volts (V). Chart type: Line. Available for: PAN-42 sensors only. Shown with a Pan-42 only tag in the dropdown. Package: Visualize and Optimize.
Frequency
Shows: Electrical grid frequency in hertz (Hz). Chart type: Line - one line per phase (R/S/T or L1/L2/L3). Available for: Individual PAN-42 sensor phases only. Parent nodes - devices, categories, and the site level - show a No frequency data label. Shown with a Pan-42 only tag in the dropdown. Package: Visualize and Optimize. Maximum range: 24 hours. If your selected time range is longer than 24 hours, Frequency will not be available.
The chart displays two horizontal reference lines - Maximum permissible and Minimum permissible - showing the normal operating band for your grid (50 Hz or 60 Hz). Deviations indicate grid stress or power quality issues.
Meter Metrics
Meter metrics appear in the right column of the metric dropdown and apply to external meters (gas, water, air, and others) in the Meters section of the tree. Meter metrics are available on Optimize only.
Not all meters support every metric. If a meter doesn't support the currently selected metric, it shows a No [metric] data label in the tree and a tooltip listing the metrics it does support.
Power (meters)
Shows: Power draw from the meter in kW. Chart type: Line.
Energy (meters)
Shows: Energy consumed from the meter in kWh. Chart type: Bar.
Volume
Shows: Volume totals from the meter (unit depends on meter configuration, e.g. m³, ft³). Chart type: Bar.
Cost (meters)
Shows: Cost derived from the meter's consumption and tariff. Chart type: Bar.
Flow
Shows: Flow rate from the meter (unit depends on meter configuration). Chart type: Line.
State
Shows: The state value of predefined state meters. Chart type: Line.
Metrics Not in the Main Menu
Two metrics are not available in the metric selector dropdown:
- Outside Temperature (°C / °F) - added as an overlay via the Customize chart panel, not the metric selector.
- RSSI (dBm) - signal quality for individual sensors. Added via the Chart Series Add-ons panel.
